KENWOOD KDC-HD942U HD Integrated CD Receiver with built in Ipod controls

I decided to make this video when I couldn't find any video footage of this model when I was looking to buy a new stereo. I bought the stereo anyways, and I'm pretty happy with it, the Ipod controls are cumbersome, but with a flash drive, It's very easy to navigate your music. The right knob clicks in to hit enter, and its an art to learn to click it without difficulty. The remote isn't as functional with all the peripherals as one would like it to be, and the 2 zone controls are only on the remote so don't lose it! Everything else about this unit is great, powerful preouts, and you can tell the stereo just exactly how far away your speakers are from you and it will adjust the sound accordingly. It also has built in crossovers for all 6 preouts eliminating the need for an external crossover if you use amps. (I can't make any claim at the quality of the crossovers as I use the crossovers integrated into my amps, but I'm sure they're just fine.) The HD radio works great, it's too bad that its just as crappy and full of commercials and garbage as regular radio. Good thing this unit has an AUX input for my Sirius plug and play unit! Sorry for the crappy video/sound but my video camera isn't nearly as nice as my car stereo. :) Oh yea, I didn't film it, but it plays CD's just fine and will read CD text too. One last thing, the eject light blinks when the car is off and the faceplate is detached, to resemble an alarm. nice!

I have this Kenwood running without amps and it sounds very good. It's 22 RMS channel which is pretty strong for a head unit. I'm glad HD is free. I would be pissed if it wasn't because it's just ok, not great. Do your HD stations cut out sometime?

I still can't change the date tho. I go to the menu and "date adjust" isn't there.

Yes, the HD stations cut out sometimes, I've also seen a station shut down for the day, and my receiver said "off" when it went off the air. which was at 3pm. weird. I've been totally disapointed with the content on HD so far, even though there's more channels, the amount of content and selection seems no different than before HD.

As for the date setting, have you tried entering the menu when your unit is on standby? More options come up when the unit is in standby and I'm pretty sure it has to be in standby mode to set the date. hope that helps.

I was wondering how to change the date too because I coudn't find the date adjust button in the menu by the clock adjust please help.

you gotta hit function, go to menu, then go to "date adjust" and then you click and hold in the right knob for a second or two and it should bring you to where you can set the date. you cant just click the button though you must hold it in for a second or two. I set my date right away, so i dont fully remember what i did, so im sorta reading from the manual, but I was able to set mine, and if you still cant get it, let me know and ill physically go to my car and check how to set it.

Hey dude I just installed this same stereo in my car, and I want to let you know that to advance the ipod menu with the remote, all you have to do is press the play/pause button. This makes it a lot less clumsy.
