Video Attribution: Photos are of ex-slaves, midwives and sharecroppers taken in the 1930's by artists working for the WPA. The song is the spiritual, "Keep Your Lamp a Trimmed and a Burning" sung acapella by a former Mississippi slave, recorded in the 1930's through the WPA. It's archived in the Library of Congress, as are the photos. This video was developed by James Kuether and Random House.
