This aria is from Gluck's Opera, 'Paride ed Elena'. Sumi Jo recored it at her Erato Album, 'Caro mio ben; My Favorite Italian Songs.'

Piano - Vincenzo Scalera

==[Lyrics (Italian)]================

O del mio dolce ardor
bramato oggetto
L"aura che tu respiri
Alfin respiro
Ovunque il guardo io giro
Le tue vaghe sembianze
Amore in me dipinge
Il mio pensier si finge
Le piu liete speranze
E nel desio che cosi m'empie il petto
Cerco te, chiamo te, spero e sospiro

==[Lyrics (English)]=============

Wherever mine eye may wander,
Still of thee some vague semblance
Doth Love awake within me.
My every thought doth win me.
To yet fonder remambrance
And in this ardor that all my bosom so fireth
Thee I seek Thee I call
Fondly and ever fonder.

  • Did she know the meaning of the text?

  • @Monsmartis She is a fluent Italian speaker. Actually, she speaks Italian much better than her mother tongue, Korean. She has lived in Rome for 20 years. She speaks French & English, too.

  • @tennisgir108 That means nothing and does not deserve a "lmao". You will never sing it like this.

  • bravo!!!!!

  • @icylakepaxphile thats why we vocal performance majors at u of mn have a requirement of taking one semester each of german, italian, french as well as diction English, french, Italian and German diction not to mention two semester of IPA. Lots of language to have to tolerate.

  • im singing this for a competition, and im only 14, lmao. (:

  • @smoothiw She's amazing and works so hard to be where she is today :)

  • So beautiful and such a great voice

  • @goodnitemama in fact, so many european singers have very heavy accent while they singing. so many english singers have many problems in singing italian, french songs(r, t,...). french singers are really awful in singing foreign songs(h, n ). many italian singers can not sing german songs perfectly.
