In this video, I deal with the subject of goal weight fixation. Being focused on getting yourself to goal is a good thing, but NOT at the expense of ignoring other things to be learned along the way. It also does not represent an end, but rather a beginning to a new phase, the maintenance phase.

Check out this video on the Maintenance phase:

So you achieve one goal (weight on the scale), does that mean your WL career is over? No it just transfers to a new focus. That could be fitness related (how many miles or long can you workout), health related (curing sleep apnea), look related (Body Fat percentage), etc. Finally, hitting goal only settles or demonstrates you've solved one piece of the equation. Now comes the real challenge -- how to live at goal.

  • great vids bro. i am going into truck driving and am a bit nervous due to health regs on truckers. i've been working out for the past few months and went from 238 to 220 but stopped there for the past month or so. i only have about 3 weeks until i go off to my new company and decided to try atkins. i read the book years ago but never went with it. my question is what is typical. i officially started on monday morning and wednesday morning i already dropped 7lbs. is that normal??

  • @franktaylortn That is somewhat normal depending upon the size of the person But 7 pounds in the first week is not unheard of as the body burns through its glycogen stores - primarily water, but after that the true fat stores are consumed.

  • This was so timely Kent! I am like in an on and off merry-go-round right now for the last couple of weeks, and although I haven't gained anything, I haven't lost either. A lot of it has to do with the new job I have...I work evenings and sometimes get stuck in 17 hour shifts from 3pm-7am...that's rough on me and my body gets like all outta whack. But I appreciate this so much!!! Very insightful!

  • @an15ha I am glad to hear you liked the video and that it helped you. About your schedule, I can sympathize. My schedule as an IT guy can get extreme at times too like 24-36 hour days.

  • @ksb100pr Sorry, you have expired any reasonable amount of patience. I hope you have a wonderful life eating all the white flour-covered chicken breasts you want, but your short career of being a pest here is done.

  • @ksb100pr It's amazing you know my IQ but are unable to understand the nutrition label off a bag of flour. Ad hominem attacks are the last bastion of the weak-minded.

  • Now that my firefighter 2 examination is over, I can grow it back. The sacrifices we have to make to be a volunteer firemen. :-)

  • have not seen your before pics yet, but you look great. And you look handsome with that goatee. You should wear it again.

  • Glad you like the recipes - the diet coke wings one is my favorite. We just had them last night. I appreciate the comments. Good luck!
