On 26 March 2011 Dunbar Coastal Rowing Club launched its first skiff. As part of the Scottish Fisheries Museum backed initiative to re-introduce inter-community rowing around the Scottish Coast, enthusiastic volunteers had spent the last year building their own skiff. The relatively inexpensive design was the brainchild of noted small boat designer Iain Oughtred and is based on a traditional Fair Isle Skiff built using the clinker ply method which combines traditional and modern methods of construction. Anyone interested in becoming a rower or supporting the club in its ambitions to build a second boat, are welcome to contact the club via its website at
