Scorsese is the only one who sees that each form has their own applications. The rest are just being biased snobs.

Superior? For shooting any and all movies?

Digital has fantastic potential, and is still a young format. Film will always have its place in movies, but some people are just too closed-minded about new technologies.

"The issue is it's different. How is it different, then do you use it to tell a story? It's up to the filmmaker."

Scorsese couldn't have said it better. There's a good reason he's one of the greatest. The young stubborn filmmakers could learn from him.

It’s not about being young and stubborn. There are old and new-school film makers in both camps. The workflow and cost advantages of digital are pretty obvious. When I say superior, I speak of image quality. I’d love for the digital camera industry to do well so they may have R&D resources to push the technology. That's optimistic and not at all conservative. It'd be sad for film to die before passing the baton to a truly mature and worthy successor. In due time, however, it can rest in piece ;)

We've certainly come a long way. Undeniably, the future of technology holds more interesting developments in store for us. Perhaps they’ll close the gap eventually. Still, I wouldn't go as far as to deny the actual existence of the gap. Since I’m not an expert, I can't quite put my finger on what constitutes that gap, but film is clearly superior. Also, let's not forget which tries to simulate which: aspartame mimics sugar, soy mimics meat, and digital mimics film - not the other way around. ^_^

KEANU that background score is APPALLINGLY BAD. I couldn't even pay attention with those cheesy fake strings in the background. PLEASE get a real score this is just so so horrible, I don't even want to see the movie now.

Interesting. Maybe it's because of the large budgets involved that movie people seem to want to move into one camp or the other. When it comes to music, many many of us are sliding gracefully between digital and analogue as it serves our creative muse.....
