This is my first video about Gemcraft Chapter 0, the only game that I have been playing lately and it is kinda addictive.

I like tower defense games in general and have played most of them including Warcraft 3's tower defense maps but none of them was as fun as Gemcraft.

In this video I tried level 17 in endurance mode. I wanted to see up to which wave I could survive and the biggest grade of gem I could make. Before this trial the farthest I had gone was about wave 70 and the biggest gem grade was 9. I captured only the final part as it was about an hour in total.

Here, I survived till wave 96 and crafted 2 level 12 blue gems, in fact I could make a higher level gem, a grade 13 or even a grade 14; however, I also wanted to survive as long as possible so I did not try to empty all the towers in favor of crafting a grade 14 gem. And since you can only create grade 6 gems then combine them for bigger ones, it is a bit tedious.

Below is the math of gem crafting:

1 Grade 7 Gem = 2 x Grade 6 Gems
1 Grade 8 Gem = 4 x Grade 6 Gems
1 Grade 9 Gem = 8 x Grade 6 Gems
1 Grade 10 Gem = 16 Grade 6 Gems
1 Grade 11 Gem = 32 Grade 6 Gems
1 Grade 12 Gem = 64 Grade 6 Gems

And each grade 6 gem requires about 4000 mana, to craft a grade 12 gem you need to spend 256.000 mana.

My next goal is to create a grade 15 gem which requires 512 grade 6 gems and about 2.000.000 mana in total.

One of the fascinating points of this run was the unbelievable hitpoints of the giant monsters of wave 100, I hope the video is visible enough for you to see the details. There were 2 giant monsters on wave 100, which I was not able to reach because my tower was destroyed in wave 96, and their hitpoint was something like 238.484.424. Oh my goodness!! :))

My blue grade 12 gem had a damage 978-3191 and even if I had a hundred of them I don't think it would be enough to kill those two superduper giants.

Anyway, see you on another Gemcraft Chapter 0 video. I hope it will be the one with a grade 15 gem.

Gemcraft is a game of Game In A Bottle:

  • IMO High grade (around 8-9 or so, no bigger) blue gems should be put on traps on set intervals, since you get values such as "slow for 96% for 30 secs" it really is helpful. then duel orange/red (red must be combined when level 4 or bigger) in all the traps in between. I reached to a point in endurance where I simply left it there for the night and it still went on.

  • @DorTheScripter Well, I didn't try blue gems in the traps in that map, I certainly will though. By the way I just started to play the game again from the beginning, it is so good. Actually, if the mana was not capped, then it would be better for endurance runs.

  • Hey deliled today i used your tip for Blue Gems and it worked perfectly >:D Nice stratagy >:D I hope you get a Grade 16 on your next attempt , you need R/O cause they are better , and get their speed to 670 or 239 >:D as you can see in my GemCraft Chapter 0 vids >:D or maybe you can get a Grade 18 Gem >:D Good luck!

  • @RecorderAlex Actually, I haven't played the game for about 6 months and unfortunately I had deleted the save files. And I am not sure whether I shall start again. Actually, this is my favorite tower defense game, and the part that I liked the most is the endurance levels. However, it gets too laggy when you have hundreds of monsters on the screen and it takes too long to reach such gem grades. Maybe I give it another try if I get a better laptop. I'll check your videos now. Have fun.

  • Well , today i had a similar situation like this , monsters had thousands of banishment costs but i had no blue gems -_- the only blue gem i had was Dual Blue-Cyan and it slows by 7% for 0,6 secs -___________- what should i have done ?

  • @RecorderAlex I guess you are talking about another level. Blue gems do really help slow the monsters but you can follow another strategy if there is no blue gem in that level.

  • @deliled I was on level 2 , and there is one blue at the start (witch i should have used for transmuting)hmm, this might be the reason for my death , heck no , you cant possibly survive banishment costs that are like 30% of your maximum mana unless you are retarded or something. But yeah , you're right, blues help a lot >:D and next time i will try it but i won't try wasting over 10 hours on that :X

  • @RecorderAlex when you have high grade orange gems in the traps and some blue ones you will gain mana very fast. The reason my mana gets to a level below 50k is that the game became so laggy and it was pointless to continue like that.

  • at 7:52 WOW! Some monster had a banishment cost of over 20,000 cause your Mana zapped for 50,000 to 20,000 instantly! How in the world are you handling 20,000+banishment cost monsters with this mana farm O_O?

  • Try the level with only blues and purples. Get a bunch of grade 8s, as their speeds are usually around 270
