Just saw Sucker Punch. It was really bad. Gonna watch Brazil tonight to erase it from my mind.

I first heard about this movie when I saw the Nostalgia Critic's list of his favourite movies. I was all like "This is the guy who hates Batman & Robin, Kazaam, the Super Mario Brothers movie, and the Tom and Jerry movie, has praised Amadeus, the Dark Knight and Citizen Kane, and THIS is his favourite movie? What the hell could be in it that could be so good?"

The answer - everything. Epic succeed from beginning to end. My only disappointment is that I don't know many others who like it too.

The plot was nothing special...a quirky 1984

Most movies are mediocre and forgettable, and become forgotten. The classics are the ones that stand out. There has always been drek at the cinema.

The trailer is lame. Probably part of an effort to market it as a mainstream film rather than the art film most of the executives at Universal saw it as being.

No--that didn't appear until January 8, 1989. The U.S. cut was 2 hours, 11 minutes. We lose the interrogation scene, the Santa Claus scene, and the running gag about the gift for an executive, and there are clouds in the credits. This version is available only on VHS.

The Love Conquers Version was the planned US Theatrical Version with a runtime of 90 minutes and featuring an alternate ending. But Gilliam protested against it and eventually he got the film with his intended ending released provided of course he cut 10 minutes from his 142 Minute Director's Cut (the Director's Cut however would be released internationally). The Love Conquers All Version would later air on TV.

Isn't the "Love conquers all" version the U.S. release? Only two cuts?

Man, I love this movie. Can't wait for the Criterion Blu-Ray. This film is very under appreciated.

My favorite movie....but this is the worst trailer for it. The other trailers (the Fox Films & the UK) are much better.
