Leah is training for search and rescue, using a "Call Out" exercise. The subject is already hidden nearby, and when the dog is ready to search, the subject "Calls Out" to be found. This verbal callout gets the dog "in-drive", focused and ready to search. The TIMING of the release to search -at the moment of the callout is most important, to keep the dog focused, and to keep the problem short and successful!

  • I have trained 4 dogs in AS so far and the first two were jump alerts. The next was an 80lb Shepherd that I didn't want jumping on my in rough terrain, so taught him his speak alert. My current dog is a Mal and her bark is loud and sharp enough that EVERYone knows what she's found :) Last victim was nearly deaf in one ear cause the Mal barks on the find and after the recall for alert.

    :) Cool video!
