Making the crowd wait outside on a cold Tuesday night, designer Kim Ellery was smart enough to sooth cold egos with ultra strong cocktails. Once inside, Ellery took us back to the Miss Teen USA pageant, 1987, when lips were coral and everyone was dirty dancing. With not a bandage dress to be seen, Ellerys focus this season was on the details, focusing on luxe fabrics and a much more relaxed fit. While the references to Balmain were less than obvious, chain and padlock details, winged shoulders, and modern takes on corsetry and the bubble skirt made Ellerys frisky style wickedly covetable. Whod want world peace when you can wear a gold sequined cut out dress anyway?
