I had my first miner brush with the possible downfall of society when i was 12 and on vacation in orlando florida when hurricane charley hit. we had no water or electricity for over a week and the only food we had was stored in a freezer and that all went bad in just over a day. food was entirely off the shelves and gas stations were backed up for miles with people trying to get generator fuel. I decided in that event that preparedness is crucial and i would take it seriously. Great video! :)

@farawayniceguy the guy didn't mean that in a bad way...everywhere is diffrent all area's do stuff diffrently..like in survival vids from america they all have guns in it mostly..in the UK vids we have knives and melee wepons mostly for protect us...like if shtf happened people in america would be grabbing the wepons first then the food&water...if brits had gun access like america we would do the same but we don't so it food&water first for us...

when people get word that you have food storage etc they automatically think your a 2012 nutter..i like to prep because its fun and in cause if i get snow'd in or there's power you know small emergencys like that because you don't want to go to the shop and there nothing to buy except the bare shelves...and i agree on the america and britain thing

I remember the fuel protests too. Why did they stop? Was the man at the helm of the protest given an offer he couldn't refuse?

Continued from other post. Hope I did not rile you up. I live in tornado country so preparedness is part necessity and part hobby. As you put it the best prepping involves increasing knowledge. In the US there are several prepper mindsets. The majority are prepping for "just in case". In case of what is not important, as prepping for one is prepping for all. You have your survivalists planning for EOTW. Worst are the seperatists of all ilk, you can see my point on them.

@rickvanman I think you in the UK have been conditioned to fear guns. An armed citizenry is the only way to curb government extremeism. Look at the Olympics as an example. Children will not be able to go see any shooting event becasue the Lord Mayor of London is afraid the children will become upset. Your own shooting sports competitors can not practice in their own country. England has a violent crime rate now that far our strips the US. Your gun crime has also jumped up.

Hi Rick. Decided to go back and rewatch your old preparedness videos since you did the recent 2012 preparedness video. Something caught my eye in this video, however, that did not catch my eye before. The shelves behind you and to the side of you. Have you thought about putting a board in between each shelf to turn them two shelves? I noticed the cans are on the bottom but you have all this empty space above the cans. If you put a board(?) between each shelf you could use that empty space.

from my point of veiw it seems you dont like the us? we are used to fighting for what we want and sometimes dying for it..and it is that attitude that hel[ped us beat england.

@farawayniceguy Not at all, I love my American friends, but it is interesting to compare how our different cultures shape our outlook on life differently

No matter what the calamity we should all prepare to have food, water, medical resources, and communications at our fingertips. Whether you are preparing for earthquakes, weather changes, protest, radiation sickness, viral outbreak, solar flares, water contamination, tsunami, volcanoes, or the so called end of the world. Its not a US or UK issue. These are all worldly problems that can affect anyone anywhere so yes start preparing but pray for these things not to affect our lives.
