A three-way gas transit deal between Russia, Ukraine and the EU has been signed without attaching amendments, according to Gazprom, which held crucial talks in Kiev on Monday morning.

The surprising Achilles' heel of Gazprom is that it produces only about 550 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas—just enough to supply its own domestic market. It relies on cheap imports from Central Asia to meet the majority of its other commitments to customers in Europe, amounting to nearly 80bcm. And since only Gazprom's foreign customers pay full market value, it's the company's exports which make up the bulk of Gazprom's revenues—$21 billion for the second quarter of 2007 alone.

What no Russian can fail to ignore at this point is the fact that Yuschenko has not paid any really substantial political cost for his powerplay, specifically from domestic opinion never mind the well known team of antiRussian states.

What's painfully clear is that much of Ukraine's population, Orange or otherwise, actually holds the idea that UKR, even under an anti-Russian regime, is "entitled" to a mix of "free" (read stolen) and gas below market prices (subsidised by Russian producers).

Sencodary goal is to make EU choose alternative routes of gas and oil supply which is independent of Russia, but depend on USA and their puppets. Of course, at a higher price for EU. UK press already shout about it and it will be more.

This is all because mr. Putin kicked British Petroleum, Shell and etc out of Russia, nationalize oil company "UKOS" controlled by Rothchild's fund and did other "disgraceful" things :)
