There comes a point where you just cant compare them. I mean Gordon Giltrap for me is one of the finest guitarists around and he looks up to bert jansch. But they have their own sound and it becomes impossible to say one is better than another

Well yes. But I dont thing Nick evens come close to bert as a guitarist. Did you listen the bert and john album? its practically brilliant, they are pure instrumentalist rather then songwriters such a nick, though nick had great guitar play to, he was really good yes. But he couldt play like bert. Otherwise he would have, and I havent heard anything on his albums come close to what bert has been recording, speaking in terms of guitar work.

I read once that Joe Boyd, Nick Drake's producer and familiar with the folk scene, told that Nick, unlike any of his contemporaries, even the best ones, never played once a wrong note, and his playing was always perfect. This, and him writing some of the most original and beautifully conceived guitar parts, probably dont make him a better guitarist, as Bert could do things that he couldn't, but i felt it should be mentioned
