You lot are fucking stupid! Once Windows Media Player is launched for the first time, it will ask various first load setup questions including these options! They are enabled by default! if you are too stupid and lazy to read the options before just clicking on OK and not reading it then its your own fault! If you read the setup pages, then these options can be disabled before media player is even opened for the first time!

I know this is old but I really hav to mention that you have it a little bit wrong.
They don't recieve videos, mp3s or any concrete data like that.
All it actually sends is the basic information in the ID tags.

Not 100% accurate - any app that is coded to send data back to its source will do so regardless of GUI options.. you can test this by using a decent firewall - a free one like Zone alarm - which monitors signals going in and out of the machine. you will find that the app will try to send data even when your not using it. - block it all.. fuck MS!
