This was a great gig. I came from Toronto the show and John was in fine form. Buzzy Linhart opened the show. The date was Aug 27, 1979.

Written by Bill Amesbury who became Barbra Amesbury in the 80's by sex change. A Thrill's a Thrill was on his 1996 album "Can you feel it". Check out "James Collins - Do You Mind If We Talk About Bill" video here on YouTube. It's a song about Bill/Barbra. There are vids here of Bill's 70's hits too.

This was a great show. I had it all on video - or at least all that Whistle Test showed - at one time. Very easy to fix the sound if it's just that it's too low. Hard to tell. Thanks for uploading. I wish they'd put this on one of the OGWT compilations.

What this clip lacks in sound quality is more than made up for by Long Johns package. We played the bottom line once with Ron Sexsmith and others and the organisers were down right weird , insisting that we eat a meal together and share our FEELINGS....they obviously did not know the Geraniums. PS: (message to Geraniums) who was the incredible poet who performed that night?

shaniaisgod.. i saw Long John in London at this time he came over with some band members and played at is friends pub the Half Moon Putney, brought some copies of the album with him, he signed me a copy and this song was on it, it ends with a marching band blowing some really cool horns. The album is called ' Baldry's Out ' not sure if you can still get a copy but worth trying, He's saddly missed i wished he had played here more.

It's still available on CD, also the CD collection, "Long John Baldry- The Canadian years" is available, and many of the songs on "Baldry's Out" are in that collection. FYI .... :) Mick
