  • Cool video. Is that a Kenwood TS 50? That's what I run in my pickup.

  • @kb5wqw No this is actually an Alinco DX-70TH. It is actually nice radio, not big on features, but definetly a solid performer and great for a NEW ( like myself at the time) ham to get their feet wet in HF. While I was mobile with this radio, I talked to Ireland, italy, Hawaii, all around the US it was a lot of fun. Thanks for watching

  • wow nice to see ham radio in big rig's I got my general class in working on extra hope to catch you on the air sometimes

    what feq? thanks 73

  • Hey, congrats on your general, and good luck on going to Extra. I'm working on Extra now, I'm not on the air right now, still working on getting an antenna up. Thanks for watching. 73

  • Nice HF mobile setup. Would love to work you sometime. 73 from KJ4GCA. I have a few ham videos on my channel.

  • Thanks for the kind words, one of these days we need to coordinate a time we can work each other. I'll check out your channel. Take care and see in the log.

  • I'll be sure to see if I can hear ya, I'm on 20 alot but I do go to 80 and 40 quite a bit lately. 15 is something I haven't tried to much yet, but I will. I've been licensed for about 2 years now. I was a technican for about a year then upgraded to General class, I only have one more to go then I will have full privileges. Then I can go where I haven't been able to go...lol. Take care and hope to hear ya on the air.

  • GerDay Rick,

I mostly use 80 and 40, 2 and 70 Cms, but occasionally get on 20 and 15 metres.

I use a Kenwood TS480HX direct into a custom made Terlin multi tap and have pretty good results, although the C15 Cat gives me a bit of grief - particularly on 40 with the back EMF out of the injectors. I have been a "Full Call" (as we call the open class in Oz) for .... I dunno .. maybe 15 years and this is my 25th year as a licenced call!

    Enjoy the retirement! Happy Dx!
