Well, everything I've seen and heard points to Hitler being a member of the Catholic church.

But even IF he was an atheist, it doesn't make a difference. Hitler didn't do anything motivated by religion. Crusades etc. was done in the name of Christianity.. Nothing has been done in the name of atheism and nothing CAN be done. Atheism isn't a religion, it's not a political movement, it's not a sect or cult. There's no dogma and no 'holy' books claiming that killing other people is good.

I see a lot of Hitler reference here. I think it's stupid to sit there and try to demonize people who don't share the same beliefs in another person's theism by trying to compare their lack of belief, to being on the same level as Hitler. If people are going to do that, then I ask "What? So I guess there were no Christians in the Nazi party? Oh wait let me guess... The Christian Nazis, well it was okay for them to do the same acts because they've been saved through Jesus, so that makes it okay".

Stalin was anti-religious but not because of atheism. Stalin targeted religious leaders(and the religious)because of communism. in the twisted style of communism Stalin was creating, the leader must be in total control. he must have complete authority and can not have ppl speaking out undermining that authority. this includes religious figures. whats the fastest way of getting rid of such leaders, kill them and their followers.
