My favourite poem from The Flowers of Evil by Charles Baudelaire. Both french & english version. English translation by Roy Campbell. Music: Vangelis - Damask rose from Blade runner soundtrack
Dedicated to my only love, Lucius.

  • Maravilleux!!!

some one knows what is the name of the music?

    thanks!

  • Vangelis - Damask rose from Blade runner soundtrack

  • and to reitterate, the font, the music, the text and the images all reference different historical periods, different cultural traditions and their accompanying ideological milieu...it's this complete lack of awareness for asynchronous hodgepodge that I call "aethetic terrorism"

  • Well, I chose the music because he mentions exotic blooms in the poem so for me it just made the atmosphere of the room from the poem (and btw it is from soudtrack from a movie about the future). And the font-I do not see anything special about it and I do not see why it should belong to some historical period... I realy don't know what irritates you so much about it but everyone has a different taste...

  • Riveting interplay of words and music.

  • @glakshmiratan

    rimbaud and baudelaire for eternity!

    visited one grave

  • very well done but the letter should have been in green or yellow.

  • @GehennaGrafiti I don't mean neutral as in blase, it just doesn't detract attention from the words. the main instrument is still strongly emotional while the rest is soft

  • How could anyone complain about the music choice? it's so soft and neutral, and depicts somehow the soft intensity of what is happening in the poem. If there is anything eternal in the work of Baudelaire, then the music doesn't have to be from the same time period to match its expression

    .

  • Apparently, Daniel Handler took the Baudelaire surname from this guy.

  • Un de mes poèmes préférés♥

Baudelaire ou l'un des meilleurs poètes Français existant ( ou ayant existé )

De plus, la musique colle parfaitement au poème et à l'univers de Baudelaire en général.

  • In tribute to Baudelaire: Ross McCague Red Cloth Series on youtube.

    Music--Yeah- it's my salvation

I didn't include Bach, Wagner and the classical lot--I just love music, movies (most European movies, though I like Wells, Kubrick, Woody and the intellectual Hollywood lot), books, and art (Renaissance and Baroque)--

    I like your profile pic--very Poe :-)

  • @MissJaymeX

Great comment--I love CB--Along with Verlaine and Rimbaud, he's my fav.

CB is a big reason why Poe is famous today--not many people seem to know that
