No newspapers, no conferences and no screaming fans.. The Netherlands now has a new world champion but only a few people have heard about it. The 19 years old Menno Gorp, from Tilburg, managed to become the World Champion of Breakdancing last sunday! Abroad Menno is a true phenomenon, time for us to meet up with Menno!

Menno: No.. Your body gets used to it.

Male voice: He's a real talented guy! He has only been breakdancing for 4.5 years, starting on his attic. And now he is already a World Champion! He managed to beat the biggest names out of the International Breakdance scene in London.
How come we didn't know about this?

Menno: The sport isn't mainstream, the people who do this sport have their own ''world'', so outsiders don't know much about it since it isn't as big as; Soccer, Tennis, Skating.

Male voice: And Menno is a bit modest, even his own mother didn't know he became the World Champion!

Menno's Mom: Well, he did say he had a very important competition and he also sent me an sms saying that he had won, but I didn't know that it was about the title of World Champion! He told me that after he got home.

Male voice: Menno is very famous In breakdance-countries such as America, France and England.

Menno: It feels really good, everyone knows who you are. Also in The Netherlands, when you are at battles, they all know who you are, so it's mainly bboy's who visit battles/competitions.. and they all know you.

Female voice: Do you ever get recognised on the streets?

Menno: A laughing No as answer!

Male Voice: This will change now that he holds the title of Champion of the World! Even the Russian States Circus asked if he wanted to join them!
I am sure we will hear more of Menno, in the future!
