136-174MHz & 400-470MHz Dual-Band
The KG-UVD1P is a small personal use radio capable of daul-band operation between 136-174MHz (VHF) and 400-470MHz (UHF). The power output on VHF is 5W and on UHF is 4W.

This radio perfomrs very well in the role of personal communications. It will function flawlessly on the GMRS/FRS frequencies and marine radio frequencies, making it ideal for interactions with friends who may be using the GMRS/FRS or marine radios commonly found at Wal-Mart or other stores. This radio also works with most Police radio systems, so you can use it to listen in to your local PD.

The KG-UVD1P performs on the 2m and 70cm HAM radio bands as well, and supports duplex operation. Making this little radio a very handy tool for working your local repeaters or satellite operation.

The KG-UVD1P can be programmed manually, or by computer. (see image below) The software that comes with this radio allows saving/loading programmed sets so synchronising multiple radios is very easy.

  • You can use it on MURS if it goes down to 1W, the limit for MURS is 2W

  • @radiosification I stand corrected then.

I made a few mistakes in this video that seem pretty obvious to me now, lol. Maybe I should redo this video with updated info. I hear now there is a company in Texas selling them... lol.

  • Hey where did you buy it at....I think I'm going to get one

  • @alexjonesviewer At the time I bought mine I had to order through a chinese distributor. You can order them from American Radio Sales companies now though, such as Universal Radio.

  • @spd641 I'm sure it DOES happen from time to time.. I just meant I never heard of it happening and I know a BUNCH of people use GMRS radios in "pirate mode".

If you recall I stated right in the video that I don't suggest breaking the law and operating without the proper license, but I'm not going to lie and pretend the FCC is competent enough to enforce anything without HAM operators doing all the legwork of tracking down and reporting violations either.

  • Just wanted to update you if you haven't been already since this recording but you are allowed @watt output power on the MURS band..

  • There's a company in Texas selling them

  • there is a company in Texas selling them!

  • As a storm spotter, amateur radio is important to me, and a good, affordable radio is important. I have had this radio rained on, dropped, all that and still works great. I know several fire fighters, police officers and EMTs that use these radios, so that is a testament to how good they are. It will be an investment you wont regret.

  • The only problem I ever had was the battery eliminator went bad, and the replacement went bad. I use a Kenwood speaker mic and works great. If there was accessories to get, I would recommend an extra battery, like you said, with the DC power cord, you can charge a battery while using another, but recommend the AA battery pack, just in case if you are out and about and don't have access to any power to charge the radios. Mine saved my tail when the storms hit Alabama and knocked out power here.

  • You can't go wrong with this radio! Versitale, affordable and very durable. Buy it! You wont regret it. The stock antenna radiates very well.
