@Gregoriian It is mostly Catholic Ukranians who are vehemontly anti-Russian (just like Poles). Orthodox Ukranians feel strong close cultural affinity with Russia (just like Russians with Ukranians).

@Gregoriian The same religion - during Kievan Rus they accepted Orthodox Christianity from Byzantines. Poland converted into Catholicism and there was a policy of trying to convert Orthodox Slavs within Poland-Lithuania Commonwealth into Catholic faith, hence historic animosity. There three faiths shared by Ukrainians - dominant Orthodoxy, Orthodox following Western rites (from ~550 years ago) and Catholic (from Poland Lithuania times).
