Synopsis
Makdung -- moro, child warrior, deaf and mute. This eleven-year-old storyteller narrates, how his people survived a continuing war. He comes from Hinyok, a beleaguered small town in Mindanao wrecked by many wars.
A glimmer of hope comes to his life as well as to others when a stranger named Vigo Cruz arrives in Hinyok. Vigo, a teacher to the barrio had informatively imparted literacy and numeracy among young and adults alike in the village. His teaching method strengthened the innate characteristic of moro and lumad as peace loving people. Mothers and children enjoyed experiencing this alternative approach to education, which reinforced their dream of a normal life free from the threat of war and terror. Though they know that being free is a tough act, they continue to inspire themselves and nurture the hope that someday, peace may finally reign in their lives.
On behalf of the FDWHCC family, we would like to invite everyone to support FDWHCC's fundraising cause for the Deaf Women's Shelter by watching the film "Hunghong sa Yuta."
Your generosity will go a long way to help the Deaf women at our shelter.
We count on your support. I will give you more updates in the next few days.
