Satriani aint better than EJ. You can't even begin to compare them. EJ plays with his sensibility, an awesome sound, you know, what we call FEELINGS. I saw on another vid comment, and I agree, Satriani has a shiny guitar, and fast fingers (EJ's are damn fast too though). I don't like Satriani's sound. No feelings.

I prefer EJ a thousand times over Satriani.

I have already acknowledged the fact that he is indeed a virtuoso, and he can play very well... but that's not showmanship, he crossed the line a long time ago. There's a difference between showmanship and an exhibition of egotistical show-off. I would not rather that he stand there and not do anything, but I would respect him more as a performer if he pulled it back... Quite a bit. I like Eric Johnson more because he doesn't try to overdo it.

@fanqueen Ah well i grew older since that last comment, I listen more to Satch than i do EJ. Anyways, the two of them are masters, each in his own way. Their sound are different, their music is different... The instrument is the same though, and the music they play give me chills. That's what matters ^^

@ZuoLuoT Eric johnson plays with feelings and plays faster than satriani. Santriani has his own feel though.

I respect satriani as a player, but his riffs just don't hold up, I mean to me surfing with the alien is an earsore. EJ's riffs are much more interesting, he uses interesting chord structures and tries to play it different every time. Why has he then not gotten the success that Satriani has? Because most music people who listen to music these days are tone deaf and impatient and all they appreciate is speed. I don't care about his stage persona, but most of his stuff puts me to sleep.

@curlyscouse musicians tend to be concentrated on music, when they're making a perfect performance....otherwise, you can always go onstage drunk and play really simple music really bad, like old guns n roses did a lot of times... that said, joe bonamassa is an incredible player :)
