overall violent crime rate, and nearly every other type of crime has been decreasing in number over the last 10 years. Why don't people invest in home security that doesn't involve guns, first? Then when they can no longer secure the home any more but still feel paranoid, then get maybe a hand gun.

Man, I agree that guns should not be taken fully out of the picture, but christ, a lot of gun supporters have some pretty twisted reasoning behind gun's defence. I support gun regulations, too many irresponsible and malicious people get their hands on them. until there's a proven better alternative that can work in a nation like America's, I'll stick that opinion

Wow, he misses the point of owning a gun completely. Anyone who thinks disarming the law abiding help the citizenry they have serious mental issues. Britain bans hand guns and sure sees a reduction in gun crimes but their overall violent crime rate went way up. Seems criminals don't fear getting shot breaking into homes over there now. And a determined criminal will always find a way to get a gun (most effective tool of his trade) leaving the average citizen at a major disadvantage.

Yeah because there's no gun crimes anywhere except America.

And FYI. You will get a longer prison sentence for sicking a dog on somebody than you would for shooting them. Not to mention, they will kill your dog, and probably suit you and win for injuries. That's why in America when somebody breaks in, you just kill them. Less red tape that way
