  • I really like the looks of this fly Davie. have you ever tried tying it in the traffic light way? I know the traffic light method can be hugely successful on Cormorants and Crunchers. I just thought it may be something to think about to add an extra dimension to to fly, after all thats the big advantage of tying your own flies. Once again Davie, a massive thank you!!!

  • Hi jimthetelemech1977,

I have tyed one or two flies with the traffic light effect on salmon flies and they look really nice but they still have to be fished a bit to see how they get on but I'm sure they'll catch a few fish much like the flies you mentioned..

    Many thanks again...

    All the best Davie

  • davie great fly very nice i dont tie speys much i like tying streamers your hook had 2 points and does it turn the fly sideways because you tie it at a angle?

    all the best adam

  • Hi mrflyfishingak,

The way I have tyed the dressing on the double it will sit perfectly with the points of the hook down. You may get the impression that I am tying on the side by the angle of the hook. but I am tying it on top. I'm glad that you like the fly.

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie

Great looking fly like the colors on it. What do you use this fly for and the time of the year if it matters.

    Thanks for the great video

    Chance

  • Hi Chance,

The original pattern that I tyed has caught fish throughout the year from the river Dee in the spring here in Scotland, Ireland in the summer months for Grilse and Norway and in Russia so I hope this variant does just as well...Tye them on tubes as well as trebles and doubles from the largest to the smallest you want..

    All the best Davie

  • thanks davie

ill probably tie this fly somtime very soon keep up the great tying

    tight lines adam

  • nice, I think TBH a lot of flies are tied to please the angler, I know I like a well tied fly, when I tie a scruffy fly I'm oten tempted to bin it and start again!f I'm not sure the fist really cares whether the head is scruffy or not, but seeing as Salmon don't feed in fresh water,I guess you could just use anything you have that is bright and lurid, or dark, just to provoke a response, especially since the flies don't actually look like anything!
