  • Perhaps you will feel much less difficulty with this piece if you play the tempi like Debussy did, not like Gieseking, Michelangeli and some others erraneously did by taking the written score too serious.

    The bars 7-12 and 22-83 are meant to be played in double tempo! This will enable a really "calm" beginning as well as a much more logical climax.

    Most other players (in meantime) do like this, btw.
