Houston area trumpeter Randy Dunn performs the "Wedding March" from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn on the herald trumpet, accompanied by organ. This piece is frequently performed at weddings, most often as recessional music.

  • nice flag..... but that trumpet sounds hard work...

Yes, it's a bit of a bear to play the herald trumpet for two reasons: (1) The sound comes out so far away from you that it is a little difficult to hear yourself, (2) The weight of the instrument is so far out that your arms get a little tired when you've been playing it for a while!

  • amazing trumpet player

  • Thank you. I'm glad that you enjoyed the video!

That is correct: No valves = bugle....or natural trumpet, perhaps.

Not at medieval times, but I have played at the Texas Renaissance Festival (near Houston.)

  • @HoustonTrumpet uh i play trumpet and ya it has 3 valves. the with no valves is the bugel if im not mistakin

  • This is a herald trumpet. A natural trumpet looks similar to it, but has no valves, but often has a few tone holes on it (sort of like on a woodwind instrument.) The herald trumpet has a prettier sound than the natural trumpet and is much more versatile.

  • Thank you so much! I'm glad that you have enjoyed my videos. I hope to publish my Pachelbel Canon arrangement (and others), hopefully some time before I die! This project has been delayed so many times due to things getting in the way, such as my day job, frequent gigs, other obligations, and life in general. I will send a notice out to my subscribers when the sheet music finally becomes available. Thanks, again!

  • @sevaudible Thanks! Yes, trumpet and organ is absolutely one of my favorite chamber ensembles. And, it sounds like a much bigger group than just two people playing.

  • Thanks, glad that you like it. I'm hoping to publish this arrangement in the hopefully not-too-distant future. It seems like my day job and other obligations are constantly delaying my music publishing plans. If you subscribe to my YouTube channel, I'll send out a message to all subscribers once my arrangements finally become available. Stay tuned.......
