There seem to be a number of rail projects in the area this fall and work trains abound. This video has three different CSX trains I caught in the last month that make no money for the railroad. First up is a CSX rail train getting under way at Riverdale Park. Leading is CSX RoadSlug #2318(GP35) with GP40-2 #6918 trailing. This train as you can see if fully crewed and was getting ready to lay some new rail down in Hyattsville.
Next up is a CSX ballast train moving through the Tanglewood Rd crossing in Hyattsville on a nice rainy morning. Leader is CSX ES40DC #5326 with SD70MAC #4830 trailing. Note the low sided ore cars at the end of the train. Also for all you crossing gate lovers I waited till the gates were up and lights out - for a change.
Last but not least is the CSX Track Geometry train with a well groomed pair of CSX GP40-2's #4450 and #6025 leading a pair of vintage B&0 passenger cars converted into Track Geometry cars. That's some of the sharpest looking equipment I've seen of CSX.
those are some raggedy engines!

Old sluggo on the point! Gosh, I have not seen a ribbon rail train in ages.

@BurgerChefGuy That's actually the second one I've seen in about a month. They have been doing a lot of work on the branch lately. I hear the crews like the slugs because they are relatively quit and don't vibrate much.
