This is a really great, informative video. A lot of video tutorials on here are well meaning, but boring. This video is well made and you obviously have a great deal of knowledge to share about modelling techniques.
Thanks for taking the time.

@finalfrontier1701 yeah my dad's got a big compressor in his shop, I used to use it when I lived at home, and yeah, they're pretty loud...

Another great video Face!! You are a star for sharing your advice!! Thanks.

@finalfrontier1701 ...get a louder one from the hardware store if you don't mind the noise, or are painting outside, in the garage, etc. Mine was about $120 US + the cost of the moisture trap. Then you'll have a tool that you not only can use for airbrushing, but you can air up the tires on your car, have an airgun for cleaning, use compressed air driven tools, air up basketballs, etc.

@finalfrontier1701 Additionally, I was going to drop some money on an airbrush compressor/tank from TCP Global (great site for airbrushes and supples BTW), but decided after some research that I would get a "normal" compressor from Sears. I ended up with a 1.5 gal 3.0 HP Craftsman. It's VERY loud. Once the tank is full though it does not come on for the rest of the session. Get an airbrush compressor if you're painting inside. Or do your research and get a louder one from the hardware store.
Great vid Face! My two cents:
Canned air is also not great for long painting sessions. The expulsion of the pressurized air causes the can to get cold and eventually freeze and can drop your air pressure drastically.
On cleaning the airbrush, while my thinner seems to be lasting a long time, I still prefer to clean with good ole cheep rubbing alcohol from the drug store. For $1 US, I can get many months of airbrush and paint cut cleaning without touching my thinner.

@finalfrontier1701 generic rubbing alcohol is a great idea, I might have to take that under consideration!

I've used canned air... as a step up from that, will a reservoir with a regulator and moisture trap without a compressor work? I have a foot pump. Jeez that reads so stupid. But I have to ask anyways.

@2Old4Toys I would think so, it'd take a while to fill up with a foot pump though. Also you'd have to find a way to modify the hose on the reservoir to fit an airbrush coupling, that's something I forgot to mention in the vid, but it is an inexpensive alternative.
