This is the game where Mario got his name!
Before this, at the game "Donkey Kong" (the one before this one). He wasn't called Mario, but was called "Jump man", or "Mr. Video game". And these weren't official names, these were names the workers at Nintendo used to call Him.
So at the sequel "Donkey Kong Jr", they gave him the name Mario.

And this name Mario was from the owner of a office Nintendo of America use to rent. His name was "Mario Seagale", and apparently, he looked like just like Mario!
