Miguel Fleta - Che gelida manina (Studio recording)

Miguel Burró Fleta (1 December 1897 - 28 May 1938) was a Spanish operatic tenor.
Despite his short career, (1919--1935), Fleta is often described as one of the greatest opera singers to have lived. He had the honour of creating the role of Calaf in Puccini's posthumously-premiered final opera Turandot in 1926, at the insistence of the conductor Arturo Toscanini.
With a bel canto technique equalled by few since, he is often considered to be the primary inspiration for the trademark pianissimo of Montserrat Caballe.
Often overlooked, Fleta is in my opinion along with Alfredo Kraus the most talented and overall best Spanish tenor of all time.
Here the great but underrated Fleta sings a wonderful rendition of 'Che gelida manina.' Studio recording, one of the best to my ears.

@wiseroldfart I love Jussi's aria, but there is much to love in Fleta's passionate and virile Rodolfo.

I still prefer Bjorling's highly polished and powerful 1938 performance of this aria above all. He did it live. There was no room for error in performing this demanding piece and Bjorling did it almost perfectly with gusto.
