This is easy, the GOP used Obama's middle name -amongst other typical slime ball tricks- in order to create the spectre of some sort of "Manchurian Muslim Candidate". On the other hand, Obama using his middle name is a symbolic gesture that America is, in fact, ready to embrace someone who doesn't necessarily look like them.
Bay's argument about it 'just being his middle name' is completely ignorant since no one ever used Rodham, or Sidney, or Louise, etc. during the campaign like Hussein.

If people used the middle names of any of the other candidates to attack them (as is the case of Obama detractors) your ridiculous argument wouldn't be so ridiculous.
