This is the Studio Version of "Gay Boys", written by Phil Lynott and played by his post-Lizzy group, Grand Slam. Grand Slam was given some time in the studio in 1984, but never received a recording deal to make an official album, and disbanded in January 1985, a year before Phil Lynott passed away.
Lyrics: Now here is the story of a modern day romance About Billy and Joey, how it never stood a chance These days...
Billy's in the corner, standin' in the rain Billy and Joey are loves but Joey says he don't wanna see Billy again 'I don't wanna see you again'
Billy's in the kitchen, cryin' out his eyes Joey, he's goin' out somewhere, he's puttin' makeup on his eyes He's got makeup on his eyes...
You see these days, all the world's a stage for gay boys...
Joey--he's a dancer--you can check him twice nightly Billy's in the pourin' rain, says he never treat me rightly 'He never treat me rightly'
Chorus: So when he's right (he's right), he's right (he's right) He knows how to get things done And when he's wrong (he's right), he's right (he's right) He knows the weak from strong And when he's right (he's right), he's right (he's right) He knows how to get things done He knows how to get along He knows he don't belong...gay boys...gay boys!
Now Billy works in a nightclub where the lights are low Some say it's a gay bar, but Joey doesn't know And he hangs out at the stage door And watches Joey go...
And Joey's goin' crazy Pullin' out his hair He's been searchin' for Billy but he can't find him anywhere
(Chorus)
(These days, these days) Still standin' in the rain... (These days, these days) Joey wants you back again (These days, these days) Gay boys!
Step it up and treat me nice...
(These days, these days) What's goin' on? (These days, these days) Oh Billy, Joey did something wrong (These days, these days) Gay boys!
Step it up and treat me right...
(These days, these days) All the world is a stage (These days, these days) You've got it made (These days, these days) Gay boys!
Won't you forgive me...
(These days, these days) You know it ain't there... (These days, these days) Oh Billy, I really care (These days, these days) Gay boys!

I'd love to read the lyrics since english is not my first language and i can hardly distinguish them. Anybody knows a link to them? I couldn't find them anywhere on the web...
It is Phil. The camera angle is not a "straight-on" angle, but taken from above, with the guys looking up. And there's a bit of a fisheye effect....but it is most definitely Phil.
BTW,thanks for posting this. I may have to cover this song in my band!
i dont get why the record companys don't release a phil lynott third studio album with all the material he had made for it like can't get away, one wish, this and all the other ones, i'd say it could be done if some was remastered and maybe even re-recorded like the way it was done for dedication. i'd definately buy it.
Fucking Brilliant Blacksabfan, good on you for posting. Hadn't heard this in years, a crap bootled tape version. One of Phils best & saddest, the man had balls and a true poet
