Danny's Last Moments

I found Danny lying next to the food tray as usual. Instinct told me that something was not quite right and I nudged him gently.

His body was stiffening and he looked at me through the slits of his eyes. Quickly, I dipped a cotton bud into some water and tried to moisten his mouth.

I could not prevent the inevitable. He was dying.

Cupping him gently in my hands, I placed him gently in his favourite dish and lined it with bedding. This was the least I could do for him. To let him die in peace.

This video may be silly to some - a senseless clip of a breathing hamster.

But it's all I have left of Danny to remember him by. His last moments before he would never move again.

Danny was more than a pet. His death hit me hard because of the emotional attachment and symbolism that he had become associated with. I would talk to Danny when I was upset, knowing jolly well that he could not understand but watching him play and scramble around me, sitting in my palm peacefully are moments that define the special bond between us.

A trickle falls. Unbroken.

Goodbye, Danny. I will miss you dearly. =(

Today, a cat got my hamster. My sweet, soft, loving Sophie.

I found her under my dresser, after panicking and looking everywhere. She was just a little ball. Motionless. I picked her up and cradled her- sobbing uncontrollably for ten or fifteen minutes. Then I saw it- Sophie was breathing. Shallowly, but clinging to dear life nonetheless.

She's blind in one eye now, but that's nothing. I only wish that you could've been as lucky as I was today with my Sophie. May Danny rest soundly<3

nothing silly about this video. sorry about your loss. my hamster died this past sunday and i took it really hard. im still having trouble accepting it. people at work make fun of me cause of how im taking it but unless you own pets you wont understand. i still cant bring myself to clean her cage. my wife offered to buy me a new one to possibly help me get over the loss but i dont know if im ready yet. my heart goes out to anyone who has lost a pet

So sorry for your loss. My hamster died about a month ago. She was a really small and cool hamster. I will remember her and never forget her. I have a video or two of her on my channel if you want to see what she looked like.
