  • @Idiexe Just semantics. Anyone who thinks homeschooling is selfish doesn't understand homeschooling. This is the point of the view of the parent and why parents homeschool. It could easily be rewritten without the I. For instance:

My children can use curricula and resources that fit their learning style.

My children can learn subjects not taught in the public school.

My children can go as fast or as slow as they need.

My children can be taught by someone who loves and knows them....

  • A lot a the reasons seem to start with "I"

  • @wdatcg I think most of the reasons listed there actually start with the word I. Semantics though. This is the point of the view of the parent and why parents homeschool. It could easily be rewritten without the I. For instance:

My children can use curricula and resources that fit their learning style.

My children can learn subjects not taught in the public school.

Ran out of room there. Anyway, as a homeschooling parent I have a hard time understanding the perspective that thinks homeschooling is selfish. It is a full-time unpaid job. Not only that, but it costs money to undertake this full-time unpaid job. Rewards are plentiful though (watch the video). If it is selfish to enjoy being around my children and teaching them then I think selfishness is a good thing.

  • I really enjoyed your video. Do you have to be a teacher or have a degree to homeschool? I really wan to Homeschool this coming year. I feel like I've lost so much time with my kids. I must admit that I'm a little scared . Your right no one can love my kids more than I do, but can I teach them and give them a great education. I'm going to give it my best. Any suggestions on curriculum? What do you use? Thank you. :)

  • @belle0074 No, you don't have to be a teacher or have a degree. Some states have more regulations than others. Check here to see your state's requirements at hslda.org. I am an eclectic homeschooler so I use a wide variety of curriculum and even put some of my own things together, but I highly recommend getting a boxed curriculum when you start out. A boxed curriculum will have everything planned out for you. Sonlight is a good one.

  • Wouldn't you want the benefits to be about the child and not about you? And literally 80% of this video is "I get to watch my kids non-stop" over and over.

  • Love it! I am homeschooling a couple of kindergarteners (my son and nephew). I couldn't put it together better myself as to why moms should homeschool their children!

  • My thoughts exactly! Beautiful job on the video!

  • Amen! You took the words out of every other homeschooling Mom's mouth.

Great video! And your children are adorable!
