Actually.. quite untrue. He didn't like the visiting band on HIS field. He never said he hated the OSUMB on his field. We were an early turf field because a donor had the opportunity to switch because back then, the grass sciences were nothing compared today.

great to see another huge turnout from our alumni band. and as far as the new team entrance goes...simply brilliant. it gives ohio state one of the best in the country now.

He may have liked the band -- IN THE STANDS...but he hated the fact that he had to share the field...he claimed that they wrecked the turf. That was one of the biggest reasons that OSU was one of the first schools with Astro Turf. He wanted to control the field conditions.
ANYONE that knows OSU Football history knows these things to be true.

I completely disagree. Woody loved the band. He was the one that gave us the title "The Best Damn Band In The Land. He also said something along the lines of the band being good for 7 points at home and 3 on the road. No, Woody and the band were known to have gotten a long pretty well.

I think if Woody was around - He might change his mind on the Band on the field before the game! He hated sharing the field so much...but this was so cool how the band ushered in the team!!!
