Yes, the bicycle lane is sub-standard, but personally I would have used it and I don't understand why you chose not to. However, under no circumstances does that justify this aggressive driver's illegal pass and poor attitude. Use of bike lanes is not compulsury. I hope you reported the crap out of him.

This is exactly why I dont understand why cyclists dont use the cycle lane! I am a daily cyclist myself, and I always try to cause the least amount of bother to other motorists, because lets face it, we are considerably slower and I would feel the same way if I had to get to work on time and was being held up by a arrogant sod like you!! I'm usually pretty supportive of your attempts to highlight bad driving endangering cyclists, but not in this case.  People campaign for provision of cycling lanes yet when there is one provided you choose not to use it then grumble about car drivers getting too close. If I were a judge my response would be "no case to answer".

I'd like to add, that the comments seen below are part of the reason I'll refuse to use the secondary position in a lot of situations in glasgow, the roads are terrible, the bikelanes are worse and the drivers well 99% keyboard warriors, but there is always that 1% who are just that moronic.
