A slow motion version of the previous clip - sorry for some loss of resolution, I'm working on a better copy.
I hope this helps resolve the question of whether an intact set of columns falls down and disappears behind a dust cloud of its own making, or if the columns did indeed turn to dust shortly after they began to fall.

A straight-down fall begs the question of how steel columns could fall straight down without their bottoms being somehow removed. There is no sign of accordion folding or other forms of buckling.

Very little dust would cling to the vertical surfaces of the core columns, and there is a real problem with how it would be suddenly dislodged as the spire began to fall, as well as how there could be a dense enough dust cloud to actually hide the core columns. That would have to be some very opaque dust, and a lot of it...

Some further thoughts on the topic:

...and here is a link to an mpeg-1 version of the collapse footage, quite a bit sharper than the YouTube version and better for slowing down or extracting stills:

  • Pulverizing steel without the use of heat.

  • @Weirdo10o4 think about it: before 00:11 we see raging dust clouds on the right, strong winds and vibrations as the building goes down. a lot of dust being blown out, but not a wisp from the vertical beam. but when it starts to collapse, there's dust everywhere. how come?

it only has a square foot of surface to catch dust, cause dust doesn't settle on vertical surfaces.

Note the dust on the face of the WFC, American Express buildings.

  • CPU fans don't get a lot of exposure. The collapse happens after the main collapse. The breeze was gone in moments. Fireproofing was extremely fragile and in poor condition already before 9/11(post-1993 bombing studies). The WTC used a solid fireproofing instead of a modern liquid fireproofing. Not only was it in poor condition even before the event, the plane impact would've damaged it even more. The dust we see here moves just like the rest of the cloud after acceleration.

  • @Weirdo10o4 the CPU fans get clogged over a long period of time. that event only took seconds.

also that dust really sticks and doesn't float with the breeze. see how you literally have to use your finger to draw through it, but doesn't move when the fan spins (like the rest of the building, literally).

fire proofing would be a good explanation, but that sticks even better.

you have to explain how ALL the dust took off at once from the beam.

  • Could you tell me how dust clogged my CPU's fan? All it needs is moisture or static electricity. Why are you people so alienated from basic concepts? "RESOLUTION." The column was moving peacefully before its collapse, dust, fireproofing(I doubt), or something, what else.

  • Do you have any idea how dense that dust is? Nearly any surface will hold dust.

  • @Weirdo10o4 dust? from where? watch where all the dust from the building goes. it flows to the right. also there are barely any surfaces that can hold dust on that vertical stick.

  • Do you have any videos of the South Tower spire. The South Tower has more core remaining than the North Tower.

  • that is not the spire that is the side of the building
