@drohegda Hello, thanks for the information, I already know! I've been studying Jazz artists and listening to them since the 70's George is just one of my favorites. Come from a family of Jazz Artists, and I do know all about Benson. But the original reason I replied to on this forum, was that someone said he wasn't a soul artist, and yes he is! First off the term soul only ever described Blacks! People need to get it straight!

@cammicty George grew up in Pittsburgh in an area called "The Hill" these are just a few of the jazz musicians who grew up their.and were his influence. Billy Eckstine,Erroll Garner,and Earl Hines. and many more. Thank you.

@jacksdaddy2005 I am a Soul Sista and a grown ass woman, also with a background in music, and I do know the classifications of music, etc,. I am 100% right in referring to the term '' Pure Soul'' for George Benson is a Jazz Artist but his music is mos definitely soul! Facts, not opinions, and definitely not racially biased. The statements I made about the origin of Jazz, is 100% TRUE! Of course today there is wonderful variety of Jazz musicians, but Jazz originated with Blacks! Just the facts!
