Wow, it is amazing how fast those kayaks are with that small sail. Looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for posting.

what happens to the gear if you flip with the sail up? does it safety release to prevent damage to the boat or is it strong enough to sustain a flip?

Great vid! I live in PDX and am thinking about getting a folding kayak. Are those Kepplers? Any preference on brand for a double?

Hi, thanks! We enjoyed making it. The boats are PakBoat XT 15s. They make great paddle-sailors. We've been super pleased with their performance. They are light , super comfortable and hull steer very well. You may want to look into the XT 16 model. It has 2 deck options, solo and double. Dave and I demo'd it at the Outdoor Retailers Expo a few summers ago and enjoyed the ride.Respond to this video...

We've done extensive on-the-water testing where we deliberately and repeatedly capsized at full speed. This rig can take quite a bit of abuse. The mast head is designed to break away in order to prevent hull damage. The only hardware damage that we know of is a mast head failure that happened in shore break. They don't call it shore break for nothin! :)

Nice day. Your camera mount is working great, but I hope you're paying your stunt girl well. It may be sunny, but that water looks chilly!
I'm still enjoying the sail, although I haven't had any wet exits to deal with so far.

Thanks, lots of fun! The water is starting to get a bit chilly. It's almost time for the dry suits. Keep the cockpit side up!
