Patrick Woodcock told John Stiles that he had recently begun to celebrate his own birthdays by bringing a bottle of wine to Irving Layton. John thought it should be filmed and that was that. 3 hours of video were cut down to the length of the song Happy Hunting Ground by Australias The Church a brilliant instrumental that Woodcock had wanted to work with for years. The video was edited by Ian Harvey. The soundtrack of Layton reading is taken from an old vinyl album Woodcock owned. Both he and Harvey burned it to disc and then spent two days sampling both complete poems and selected lines. The entire video including video tape, wine and gas cost 150 dollars. Filmed in 2001.
