It wasnt even called fry bread. My mom in 100% native and her side of the family all still calls it Banic. (though not sure in spelling) "white" people call it "fry bread" I didnt know people even call it fry bread till i started dating my bf and his family calls it fry bread.

@Candielette Bannock bread is usually a baked bread. I grew up on a Shoshone-Paiute reservation (Ft. McDermitt) and have family that lives on a Shoshone-bannock rez(Ft. Hall) and on a Bannock rez(Wells), never heard any of them call fry-bread Bannock bread, what rez is your mom from?
