I know the uppity scotch drinkers say no ice in a single malt, and you shouldn't drink your single malts from a tumbler, but drink your scotch the way you like to drink your scotch. If it tastes good to you, and makes you happy, do it!

The Aberlour 12 Year was suggested to me as a great first-time Scotch, it doesn't disappoint.

Th best way to sample a Scotch is to first pour a little just straight up. Sample it. Then for your next taste prepare some ice water, add a couple tablespoons of ice water to the sample and be amazed at how much complexity it brings out of the Scotch. That's how they do it at the Scotch tastings.

@arch59 no ice in single malt... ice for blends.

Smooth, amazingly spice flavored and honey with fruit. Complex and affordable. One of my favorites!

Aberlour is surprisingly good! Try it!
You really arent a scotch drinker... Since you drink your scotch on the rocks ;)

Ralfy 2 questions: Do you intend to review Glendronach 15 Revival at some point and 2) If you've tasted it, do you agree with Serge's rating of 92/100 for it? Thanks! :-)

Good review, thanks for posting it.
The single malt has a way of getting your attention. Try a sherry cask malt if you get the chance. And for a blend try the Famous Grouse.. cheers
