This episode was supposed to launch Stuart Damon in a planned american version of The Saint (US tv bosses believed an american actor would be more popular in the US). They twisted the arm of ITV boss Lew Grade saying they wouldn't screen the British show unless he agreed. He agreed. Needless to say as happens with most things, a US version never materialised.
Eventually it was the UK that launched The Persuaders (styled on The Saint) with Moore & american Tony Curtis.

always funny to hear english people's accent when speaking french;
Simon Templar is supposed to be fluent in french though!
Roger moore is the best! too bad his James Bond personalization came at times when JB movie scripts were so lousy and into mocking the secret agent without mentioning the "flower power" music trend to those!! until "A View to a Kill"

Mr. Damon's southern accent leaves a little to be desired but he does make a could partner for Mr. Moore. I suppose this was the basis for the Persuaders??

just wondering ...do we love him because he's beautiful? or is he beautiful because we love him?

He really is all over the place. He and Roger Moore make a great comedy team, too.
