If he had any courage he would have come home to face the charges against him. He took an oath, he knew he could be sent to war. I just looked a little bit into it and found out, that in the US there appears to be a considerable number of people, who wish for him to face the death penalty. That somehow reminds me of the mindset the people in Germany had in the Third Reich.
I swear, the best thing in my life was NOT to be born in the US.
