I too think that maybe he wasn't referring to your place in the class or wheather you are passing or not. I think he was just saying, don't think about tomorrow, think of now!

Yesterday I studied for 5 whole hours and today for only 3 hours. I'm gonna go into school early tomorrow to make up my missed lab time & to study too. I know I'm over studying and not all this info will be on the test... but I'd rather be over prepared than under, you know/

There's no such thing as "over studying" to have good grades it's normal and even required to put a lot of hours to study for an exam especially when you want to have an A. Don't be hard on yourself !
