Northern Exposure Vol. 1 compiled by Sasha and John Digweed in 1996 is still seen as a true masterpiece.
There is both a British edition released by Ministry of Sound and an American edition released by Ultra Records. The British package contains both CDs, whereas the American only has the first disc.

Northern Exposure will catch you from the very first moment, impossible even to think of skipping a single track or switching off before you completed both CD´s. This is a journey you will want to relive again and again.

"The Rolls Royce of trance-house mixes, and every bit as cool as the polar bear on the sleeve, this first edition of Sasha and John Digweed's Northern Exposure sets is the tightest and most effortless of the series. Superbly arranged and not one moment is wasted. The disc's flavor is decidedly organic and wholly evocative of all-night mountain raves or desert parties."

  • too right. This Cd is still my favourite of all time. These were and still are two of the best DJs in the buisness.QUALITY from start to finish.Remember reading Mixmag at the time this was released and Dom Phillips said this was a shoddy compiled cd.Sasha was livid and even wrote back to Mixmag and boycotting Dom phillips. What planet was he on?

  • Timeless...can't believe this was in '96.....

  • one word......MASTERS

  • Still have my original CD of this although rather tatty now! Saw them start the Northern Exposure tour at the Hacienda in Manchester (on a Thursday i think), true brilliance!

  • sheer master pieace my best music purchase ever and to this day it still moves you like it did back then, banging through me technics separates! :)

  • @chantelle669 renaisance the collection is a true definement of their work .. excellence prosonified

  • I have yet to find an album that can rival northen exposure vol 1 nothing compares to it, its just pure class (platipus is good just not as good sasha and john digweed)........

  • Northern Exposure still to this day is one of the best mixes I've heard. sasha put together an excellent collection of smoothed out tunes. I've definitely never been a fan of digweed(especially after this mix) so this is probably the highlight of his career.

This set has been one of the defining pieces of my own style and sound creations. the textures found here with minimal updates could still top a progressive chart today,

  • This is the best CD ever made
