Program Description

Time. We waste it, save it, kill it, make it. The world runs on it. Yet ask physicists what time actually is, and the answer might shock you: They have no idea. Even more surprising, the deep sense we have of time passing from present to past may be nothing more than an illusion. How can our understanding of something so familiar be so wrong? In search of answers, Brian Greene takes us on the ultimate time-traveling adventure, hurtling 50 years into the future before stepping into a wormhole to travel back to the past. Along the way, he will reveal a new way of thinking about time in which moments past, present, and future—from the reign of T. rex to the birth of your great-great-grandchildren—exist all at once. This journey will bring us all the way back to the Big Bang, where physicists think the ultimate secrets of time may be hidden. You'll never look at your wristwatch the same way again.

  • I experience time slowing down for me while I am working my horses. I usually work about 5-6 in just a few hours even though I am training them and moving around the ring quite often. I do also find myself looking at my watch wondering why time is going so slow while I do this... Now I know why...

  • @christiijack Just wanted to say, I think working with horses would be an amazing career. There so majestic and powerful. It's awe inspiring to see a well trained horse and their trainer working together. It's why I'm subbed to David Lee Archer @david12000000.

Thanks for your comment... All the best to you. Namaste ~Anthony

  • what about the fact that the earth is moving around the sun, the sun is moving around the center of the galaxy, galaxy clusters are gravitating hence moving, galaxies that are moving away form each other due to the big bang, do they account for that motion through space time?

  • @3rd3Y3p3RsOn As for your question, I can't help you with an answer to that. Brian's book would likely have that information but certainly popular science forums would be able to assist.

Also, it seems that I read not too long ago that the 'big bang' hypothesis is on the way out. In favor of what, I don't recall.

Good luck in your query. All the best to you, too.

Groovy screen name, BTW! Keep that pineal gland in tune... and open! :c)

  • can anyone here answer me this question? if time is an illusion, and the universe is expanding at an ever increasing rate, then are we just percieving the universe expanding faster and faster? or is it really expanding faster?

  • This man really loves his bread haha.

  • @sedohrj87 The gravity of an object gradually gets weaker as you move away from its center. So around a certain range, it would be possible.

  • @3rd3Y3p3RsOn five words including these.... yes

  • Dirac’s COMPLETE equation, however, had FOUR solutions. In other words, it predicted FOUR unique “electrons” rather than TWO. It predicted electrons and positrons of POSITIVE energy, and it predicted electrons and positrons of NEGATIVE energy. It also predicted that the entire universe could be made from these four kinds of electron(s) alone.

  • he Planck time comes from a field of mathematical physics known as dimensional analysis, which studies units of measurement and physical constants. The Planck time is the unique combination of the gravitational constant G, the relativity constant c, and the quantum constant h, to produce a constant with units of time. For processes that occur in a time t less than one Planck time, the dimensionless quantity tP / t is greater than one. Dimensional analysis requiring a theory of quantum gravity.

  • I Know its Possible To Time Travel But The Very Reason That We Do Not See Any of Our Ancesters From The Future? is Because if They Just Change One Single Thing!!?..then they Themselfs Won,t Exist!!...Just One Word To Anyone of us From a Time Traveler Will Make Them Vaporize" instantly Because They Changed One Tiny Thing and Thats ASll it Takes ONE TINY THING" CHANGED Even the Fact of Just Coming Here Will Change them out of Existance"..

  • Sedohrj97, you could indeed orbit a black hole. Just stay out of the event horizon. As long as sufficient energy was available you could orbit like the moon does earth. If the energy fails your orbit decays, you pass the event horizon and now your unable to escape. Galaxies orbit around black holes it's just a matter of distance.

Very interesting concepts presented within this video. For Each of us has that has expressed a comment here we continue to further disorganize the system since none a
