La Veleñita - Reinaldo Cruz & Evaristo Mateus

La Veleñita.
Reinaldo Cruz from Soaquira Pachavita Boyacá and Evaristo Mateus from Velez Santander play this beautiful "Tobellino" melody which it is considered one of the master pieces composed by the maestro "Pacho Benavides". These rhythms are part of the "La Guabina" festival In Colombia, typically and proudly very much celebrated in Velez every year.
However in Boyacá state, in some of its towns like Umbita, Pachavita, Chinavita, Garagoa, Tenza,Sutatenza, La Capilla, Gauteque, Guayata,Somondoco, Ciénega, Jenesano, Nuevo Colón, Ramiriquí, Rondón, Tibaná, Turmequé, and Viracachá" the Torbellino and Guabina rhythms are also part of the Indian music heritage. This Indian legacy managed to survive the Spanish conquest but now it is threatened again by the invasion of foreign music.

In this record, the main instrument is the Colombian Tiple, Reinaldo plays the first Tiple and Evaristo plays the second Tiple.
The duet has made other outstanding recordings and they are pioneers in promoting the Latin music. The international united Latin music association invite the new Latin youth to maintain, cultivate and be proud of our aboriginal values.

Excelente interpretacion, recuerdo en mi niñez, el radioperiodico: "ORIENTACION, LA TRIBUNA DE LA PATRIA" dirijido por Juvenal Betancour, patrocinado por la Flota Mercante Grancolombiana cuyo lema era "...es la patria en los mares..." cuyo fondo musical era precisamente este: La Veleñita, en aquel entonces la radio transmitia musica colombiana y era muy bien recibida.
