It has more in common with stage hypnosis than any sort of scientific polling, or even a REAL focus group. His idea is to get a sense of the audience and pick those most agreeable to what he wants them to say. The moderator constantly opines, and you can see how he cuts people off when the conversation turns.
NO REAL focus group would ever work this way.
One of our choices: "would you rather have some one too OLD or too INEXPERIENCED"... as if those were facts. That question came from FOX
I was actually one of the people on the show. I wasn't a 'plant', but Luntz gave us $75 bucks to sit there. Basically, he asked everyone about their political leanings, tried to separate us into thirds (it didn't happen, so he changed the criteria ad hoc), and then asked a bunch of questions before we were in camera. Anyone who said things he liked were moved to the front and he made a note to ask them more. A Ron Paul supporter was mocked ("Ron Paul? Where's security?). It's a joke.
Yep, and he'd love to create an entirely new government bureaucracy to police itself. More big government. More wasted spending. More burden on the people. Talk is cheap, but the consequences are expensive and his plan to ensure ethical behavior is itself unethical!
No one was a plant. I was contacted to be on a focus group. Thats how they found me for the audience. It was a combo of 1/3 Dem, Rep, and Ind. I thought it would be leaned much more Republican which woulda pissed me off, but it wasn't
Many of the checks and balances are ignored.
"Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution... are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." - Bill of Rights.
Does that describe our federal government today?
